Who’s who at the RMITO Office

Reuben Berghan is our new Training Manager.  Reuben has a commerce degree in Information Systems and is helping to make RMITO’s systems work better. If you have any questions about training, results or certificates please call Reuben on 0800 88 00 99 or email Reuben at reuben.berghan@retailmeat.org.nz.

Martin Eadie is our acting Chief Executive.  Martin has had a number of roles in education and training including Seafood ITO Chief Executive, Executive Director of the Institutes and Polytechnics of NZ, and Group Manager Tertiary Education at New Zealand Qualifications Authority.

Martin has been tasked by the RMITO Board with reviewing and improving RMITO’s services over the next 3 months.

Our Regional Training Advisors

Gerry Hogan is the Training Advisor for the northern region, from Taupo north.  He began an apprenticeship with the Auckland Meat Company in 1965, and then managed a number of their branches when he graduated with his Trade Certificate.  He also managed a supermarket butchery before becoming a programme leader at Manukau Institute of Technology School of Meat Retailing in 1982. Gerry has been on several advisory groups, including working on the transition from Trade Certificates to National Certificates.

Tui Bradbrook is the Training Advisor for the North Island, from Taupo south. Tui started his apprenticeship with Crown Meats in Grenada North, Wellington. He then worked for Rowntree Meats for 16 years as a butcher, driver, telesales and sales rep and then manager of the wholesale wing. In 2004, Tui took on a butchery tutor role at the Meat Industry Training Centre in Petone (Weltec) and now works with students from a wide range of courses from business to hairdressing to plumbing.

Corey Winder is the Training Advisor for the South Island.  He started his butchery training in 1996 in a small butcher shop in Cromwell.  He completed his training in 1999 and was awarded apprentice of the year. In 2002, he started as a butchery tutor at Christchurch Meat Industry Training Centre.  At the end of 2004 he purchased his own butchery - Ashby’s Butchery - which he still owns today.
